Overview

This clinical placement unit requires you to complete a 5-week full time clinical placement in an acute, subacute/rehabilitation or community setting. This unit will enable you to build upon your knowledge and experience to further develop the competencies required for independent practice as a physiotherapist. Through supervised practice, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills in assessment, treatment and client education, whilst working as part of a larger health care team. The professional, ethical and legal aspects of physiotherapy will be applied to practice, providing an opportunity for you to develop technical, clinical, personal and professional skills.

Learning outcomes

  8. Critically analyse risks and adverse events associated with physiotherapy practice.

Workload

A five-week clinical placement, typically comprising 32 hours of clinical placement and approximately 7 hours of self-directed study per week. (Total of 190 hours in contact and associated work).
