Overview

With a focus on sustainable urban development and design, this unit focuses on the concepts for integrating information and communication technologies in urban environments. It provides a foundation in the underpinning concepts and skills in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software.

Requisites

Learning outcomes

1. Understand and communicate the role of performance modelling in sustainable development;
2. Apply advanced critical thinking skills in the integration of technological systems in urban design processes and outcomes;
3. Demonstrate skill development in 3D and performance modelling software;
4. Demonstrate an advanced level of competence in communication and presentation skills: written, oral and graphic;
5. Understand and apply the rules of occupational health and safety appropriate to the unit of study.

Workload

12 hours per week including 3 contact hours. The remaining 9 hours are to be used for self and group learning activities.
