Inclusive city focuses on issues pertinent to planning to address the challenge of creating people-centred cities. The unit expands and consolidates advanced concepts, knowledge and skills encompassing a range of complex issues relevant to practising urban planning and design. Through critical research, analysis and synthesis undertaken in real spatial settings, the unit develops concepts, creative approaches, processes and outcomes, and the skills to communicate.

Learning outcomes
- Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of relevant concepts and principles associated with contemporary planning and design that strategically respond to complex community issues;
- Develop effective and innovative planning and design responses and processes that strategically respond to complex community issues;
- Integrate knowledge and synthesise insights from diverse sources to develop meaningful, inclusive, equitable and sustainable planning approaches;
- Effectively communicate planning and design ideas, demonstrating a high level of competence in written, visual, design, graphic and verbal communication skills;
- Critically reflect on and practice ethical approaches to planning with diverse communities, recognising the importance of resilience, inclusivity and sustainability;
- Adapt to evolving community challenges, seek new knowledge, and engage in continuous self-directed learning.
