Every industry needs people with strong business skills to manage and improve the day-to-day operations of organisations. To keep up with growing industry needs, companies are looking for graduates with strong business administration skills. Business Administration is the coordination of business functions and activities. In the Bachelor of Business Administration, you will build a sound conceptual and theoretical foundation from which you can build essential skills for a career in business. You will learn about core business functions and how they are coordinated to achieve business goals whilst having the opportunity to specialise in more than one business discipline. The BBA provides a unique environment with a close connection to teaching staff and other students and opportunities to develop ethical and socially responsible communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to succeed in a competitive and diverse world. Many subjects provide practical experience, real-world case-based projects, collaborative learning, interaction with experts from industry, and job-ready skills. This degree will equip you for careers in public-sector and private enterprises.

Structure

In choosing your units you must ensure that you complete no more than ten units (60 credit points) at Level 1 and that you complete at least six units (36 credit points) at Level 3 of which at least four units (24 credit points) are Bachelor of Business Administration listed units from the Peninsula campus. You will complete one major in the Bachelor of Business Administration (B2007). You may also complete an additional major within the Bachelor of Business Administration, using your electives. Some majors and minors include the same units. Where this occurs, up to 12 credit points may be shared between: - two majors; or - a major and a minor. Note: Units can only count toward one minor. They cannot be shared across multiple minors.

You must complete the following units. Notes: - You must complete either ACB1020 or ACB1120 (only one Accounting unit). If you are completing a major in Accountancy, you must complete ACB1120. - BFB2140 is for students completing a major in Accountancy and seeking professional accounting accreditation. All other students should complete BFB1001.

You must complete at least one business-listed major from the Peninsula campus. The major comprises 48 credit points, with no more than 12 credit points at unit Level 1 and at least 18 credit points at unit Level 3. Notes: - You may complete an additional major within the Bachelor of Business Administration. Some majors and minors include the same units. Where this occurs, up to 12 credit points may be shared between two majors or a major and a minor. Units can only count toward one minor. They cannot be shared across multiple minors. - Depending on the major chosen, you may have already completed one of the required units as part of your core studies. If so, you must complete an additional business unit offered at Peninsula campus in place of the duplicated unit to ensure you meet the total credit point requirements for the course. - If you intend to undertake an honours year, you must ensure you complete the specific prerequisite units required for honours in your chosen major.

You must complete one unit (6, 12 or 24 credit points) from the Faculty’s capstone portfolio of units, which includes capstone units, consulting projects, international experience and internships (industry placements). Notes: - If you complete a 12 credit point unit in this part, you can complete a maximum of 42 credit points in Part D. This may limit the number of elective units you can use to complete a major. If you complete a 24 credit point unit in this part, you complete a maximum of 30 credit points in Part D. This may limit the number of elective units you can use to complete a major. - If you are completing a major in Accountancy and seeking professional accounting accreditation you need to complete ACX3900. You can undertake more than one unit from the following lists, which will count towards your elective studies.

You must complete 48 credit points of elective study. Electives can be chosen from: - Part B (as listed above) to complete a second major; - One or more minors (as listed below); - Units not already completed in Part B or Part C above provided you have met the relevant prerequisites; - Units from across the University, which may be used to complete a major or minor from another course, provided you have met the relevant prerequisites and there are no enrolment restrictions. Notes: - ECX3550 is a recommended elective unit offered at Peninsula. - Enrolment in Faculty of Business and Economics units at campuses other than your campus of enrolment is subject to there being spare capacity after students from that campus have enrolled. You should also be aware of travel and timetabling limitations.
