The Master of Health Professions Education qualifies you to apply principles and theories that inform educational practice in a range of clinical and other relevant contexts to undertake professional and highly skilled work and as educators in the health professions. This practice-based qualification builds on the existing Graduate Certificate of Health Professions Education. It is suitable for a broad range of health professionals who are, or will be, engaged in the teaching, assessment, evaluation, curriculum design, mentoring and supervision of health professionals in a range of clinical and other contexts. You have the option of taking an education practice or a research practice capstone. The research capstone can articulate to a PhD.
Structure
You must complete the following units: - HPE5100 Foundations of health professions education (12 credit points) - MPD0020 Assessment in health professions education micro-credential (6 credit points) - Part C. Specified elective studies or micro-credential unit (6 credit points)
You must complete the Coursework pathway or Research pathway
You must complete 24 credit points from any of the following units and list of micro-credentials not already completed in Part A and B. Note: You can only complete either MAP5200 Improving Indigenous equity in professional practice or Sustainable healthcare in practice micro credential.
Note. Micro-credentials must be chosen from the following list of micro-credentials offered by the School of Clinical Sciences. Please note that not all micro-credentials are offered every semester. Micro-credentials are 6 credit points unless otherwise stated. The micro-credentials are not eligible for FEE-HELP. - Quality supervision course - Scenario design for simulation-based education - Learning conversations: Feedback and debriefing practices in clinical simulation - Assessment in health professions education - Introduction to education research in the health professions and sciences (12 credit points) - Qualitative research methods for public health - Fundamentals of clinical coaching - Sustainable healthcare in practice - The art of mixed methods research: from design to execution
