Overview

This capstone unit integrates the knowledge and skills developed throughout the Bachelor of Business and Commerce course and prepares you for transition into a professional career or postgraduate studies. You will analyse, critically evaluate, and apply your learning to real-world or simulated business challenges. Individually or collaboratively in teams, you will address complex accounting and business problems, demonstrate professional judgement, communicate effective solutions, and develop key capabilities expected of accounting professionals in dynamic organisational settings.

Learning outcomes

  1. evaluate how accounting policies, regulatory requirements, and/or external factors influence organisational behaviour and performance, and propose evidence-based recommendations
  2. evaluate business models, the drivers of competition advantage, and value creation in various organisational settings with relevant frameworks or tools
  3. appraise the effectiveness in strategising and addressing multifaceted business challenges in a team context
  4. demonstrate the ability to report, interpret, and communicate effectively accounting advice and ideas at a level required for a career in accounting and business
  5. evaluate case study on an international company and provide a critical reflection on the sustainability initiatives or practices of the company.

Workload

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. You are expected to complete all pre-class activities prior to your scheduled class, and post-class activities should be completed after your scheduled class. Learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed, peer directed and online engagement activities.
