Overview
This unit introduces you to the business, marketing and management principles required for the successful operation of a health business, and applies these concepts to health contexts. The influence and requirements of funding models will be analysed with respect to their impact on a business. The clinical and operational governance structures within a range of healthcare settings will also be compared. This unit will also allow you to consolidate context-specific issues relevant for health-related business including legal and contractual considerations.

Workload
This is a self-paced online unit undertaken by you. All content is accessible at the commencement of the semester. There are approximately 2-3 hours of prepared materials for each topic including on-demand lectures, podcasts, e-books, prescribed readings, and other learning activities. The average time required for the dedicated online tasks, private study, and preparation for assessment tasks is 12 hours per week, inclusive of a 1 hour optional online tutorial.
