The form and function of animals enables them to meet their need to survive and reproduce. To do this, animals acquire, process and use energy and nutrients to cope with challenges in the internal and external environments through a wide variety of physiological, morphological, reproductive and behavioural adaptations. In order to understand unifying principles, you will examine the amazing variety of different solutions to common problems that animals encounter. You will undertake interactive practical classes including animal and 3D model examples, and digital sensors are employed. You will also gain experience in report writing and presentations on zoological concepts.

Learning outcomes
- Describe the anatomical, functional, physiological, reproductive and behavioural adaptations of animals that allow them to survive and reproduce in different environments.
- Apply knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment and experimental procedures relevant to investigations of zoological concepts;
- Demonstrate skills in research, data gathering, collation and organisation through practicals and report writing to effectively communicate scientific knowledge;
- Apply skills in written communication, oral communication and teamwork to effectively convey scientific concepts.
