Computing has become ubiquitous and pervasive, embedded in the everyday objects and environments creating complex, connected systems that influence and shape our lives. In this unit, you are equipped with essential knowledge and skills related to pervasive computing as an essential step towards understanding the complexities of such systems and human-computer interaction. By understanding the principles, technologies, and social implications, you will be prepared for a future where technology seamlessly integrates with our environment. Further, this unit provides a comprehensive understanding of pervasive computing principles and applications, as well as a basis for human-centred AI principles.

- Analyze security challenges in pervasive systems
- Evaluate the impact of pervasive computing on society, ethics, and culture including potential benefits and risks
Workload
Minimum expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes of this unit is 144 hours per semester comprising a mixture of scheduled face to face learning activities (2 hours workshop and 2 hours applied classes per week) and independent study. Independent study may include associated reading and preparation for scheduled teaching activities.
