This unit will provide you with the opportunity to explore, design and implement an educational programme or concept, building on the skills and knowledge gained throughout the degree. This unit will present advanced concepts in health professions and simulation education and equip you to implement a new education program or conduct an educational research activity. You will be allocated a mentor to support them through the practical aspect of the unit.

Learning outcomes
- Analyse and synthesise contemporary issues in health professions education or clinical simulation using evidence-based literature.
- Design and implement an educational initiative in a health care or training context.
- Create an evaluation plan for a health professions educational initiative.
- Practice reflection on educational leadership.
- Develop strategies for continued professional development as a health professions or clinical simulation educator.
- Appraise educational research using accepted appraisal tools for a range of different research methods and methodologies.
- Effectively communicate topics and issues related to health professions education and/or clinical simulation in written and oral formats.
Workload
This unit will be delivered entirely online through the Monash Moodle learning management system. Activities include readings, online asynchronous lectures, online discussions, and interactive sessions via Zoom. There is also self-directed learning and completion of assignments. There will be 12 hours of teacher directed study per week, including pre-recorded lecture, online interactive workshops and tutorial classes. 12 hours per week of self-directed study including readings, engagement in online discussions, and reflective written work. Total per week = 24 hours.
