Overview

In this unit you will continue to work two days per week in collaboration with a community-based agency and apply the principles of enabling occupational participation, occupational rights and justice to promote health and wellbeing for an identified population. Furthermore, you will learn and apply collaborative project management skills to implement, evaluate and report on chosen quality improvement activities that will enable occupational participation for your specific population. You will consolidate skills in evidence-based practice by developing your project deliverable/s based on best practice. In this unit, you will also evaluate your project processes and the impact of your deliverable/s and use your findings to support project recommendations. You will consolidate your communication skills by disseminating project information in written and verbal forms via a conference poster presentation and a written project report. Finally, you will apply ethical principles to ensure safe practice when implementing a project plan that will contribute to service development.

Learning outcomes

  1. Apply the principles of enabling occupational participation, occupational rights and justice to promote health and wellbeing for an identified population.
  2. Apply ethical principles when implementing your project plan and adapt service provision to ensure safe practice.
  3. Interpret and synthesise primary and secondary information sources to guide the development of project deliverable/s.
  4. Collaborate with key stakeholders to co-design project deliverable/s and facilitate effective project handover.
  5. Identify and implement appropriate strategies to evaluate project processes, impacts and outcomes.
  6. Interpret and disseminate relevant project management knowledge, skills and ideas to key stakeholders using effective verbal and written communication.
  7. Identify and implement appropriate reflection strategies during and following service provision, and adapt this to improve own performance.

Workload

Practice education placement in external agencies for the equivalent of 15 hours a week for 11 weeks / 165 hours for the semester; 12 hours of on-campus workshops; 12 hours of on-campus tutorials; 5 hours of on-campus assessment in the form of oral project presentations; 6-8 hours per week of private study; and 6 supervision meetings with allocated Monash University practice education supervisor across the semester. Practice education placement: 22 days.
