Research is integral to healthcare practice. As leaders in clinical practice, education or management, it is essential that Master's-prepared health professionals have the skills to effectively consume, produce and apply research knowledge to ensure that practice is based on appropriate and critiqued evidence. This unit will provide you with the theoretical knowledge required to evaluate research evidence for use in clinical practice, education or management, and will prepare you to undertake their own research project.

Learning outcomes
- Identify relevant and significant healthcare issues for investigation.
- Describe and implement the process of evidence-based practice using case scenarios.
- Identify and evaluate the use of different methodologies and research designs in healthcare research.
- Analyse strategies to achieve rigour and address the impact of bias.
- Design and present a research proposal to answer the stated question.
- Identify, apply and defend the use of appropriate strategies for collecting and analysing quantitative and qualitative data within specific methodological frameworks.
- Identify and analyse the principles of ethical research conduct and discuss their application in practice.
Workload
24 hours per week of teacher facilitated and self-directed learning including tutorials and online activities. Please refer to Moodle for tutorial types and requirements.
