Overview
This unit runs in your first semester of the Master of Advanced Clinical Nursing - Nurse Practitioner. There are several mandatory assessments required by The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) in the Master of Advanced Clinical Nursing - Nurse Practitioner. This unit draws together academic work with workplace activities and is the repository for the workplace assessments. In the workplace, you will have both a clinical mentor, and a professional mentor, who meet regularly with you, set learning objectives and provide feedback. In NUR5601 you will submit the formal agreements with these mentors.

- Utilise interpersonal communication skills, basic problem-solving strategies, and early clinical decision-making processes in supervised professional practice.
- Explain principles of holistic and person-centred nursing care within a supervised clinical setting.
- Use evidence to inform clinical decision making and evaluate nursing interventions.
- Outline the principles of health program planning, delivery and evaluation, and begin to apply these concepts to supervised quality-improvement activities.
- Explain ethical principles, legal requirements, and key political factors that influence the Nurse Practitioner role.
- Identify principles of medication management, comprehensive health assessment, and basic diagnostic reasoning under supervision.
- Demonstrate an emerging ability to apply the NMBA Nurse Practitioner Standards for Practice within supervised clinical and workplace activities.
