Overview
Contract law addresses the concepts, principles and rules used to determine the existence, content and defeasibility of legally-binding promises, and the theoretical basis of this law. In this unit you examine the formation of contracts (including agreement, intention, consideration and certainty), capacity to contract, the enforceability of contracts (including privity), and the content and interpretation of contracts. You also examine vitiating factors, performance and discharge of contracts (including through termination for breach), and remedies relevant to contracts.

- Critically analyse and apply case law and legislation, and use appropriate legal reasoning, to respond to contract law issues.

Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. The unit requires on average three/four hours of scheduled activities per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
