Commerce is the cornerstone of the modern economy. This course offers a world-class education in the economic, political, legal, social, cultural, and technological principles that exist around the world. The course is designed to provide you with high-level skills in a range of key business disciplines. It will provide you with the skills to work in and manage different functions across an organisation. It blends a conceptual theoretical framework with practical applications, providing both a broad basis for business and commerce study and the more specific knowledge of your selected major(s). It provides choice and flexibility by allowing you to major in up to two different areas of business and commerce. You will be well equipped to seek employment in both private and public-sector enterprises.

Structure

In choosing your units, you must ensure that you complete no more than 60 credit points at unit Level 1 and at least 36 credit points at unit Level 3, including 24 credit points at unit Level 3 offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics. You will complete one major in the Bachelor of Business and Commerce (B2026). You may also complete an additional major within the Bachelor of Business and Commerce. Some majors, minors and specialisations include the same units. Where this occurs, up to 12 credit points may be shared between: - two majors; or - a major and a minor; or - a specialisation and a major or minor. Note: Units can only count toward one minor. They cannot be shared across multiple minors.

You must complete the following units. Note: If you intend to complete a major in Accountancy, you must complete the 42 credit points (seven units) as listed under the Accountancy core studies, in place of these seven units.

You must complete at least one major from the list below (48 credit points). Notes: - Depending on the major chosen, you may have already studied one of the required units as part of your core studies. If so, you must complete an additional business unit to bring the combined business study to at least 96 credit points from the Faculty of Business and Economics. - If you are intending to undertake an honours year, you should ensure you complete the specific units required for honours in your chosen major area of study. - Some units within some of the business areas may have prerequisites that require additional unit enrolment. Please bear this in mind when planning your major. - You may complete an additional major within the Bachelor of Business and Commerce. Some majors, minors and specialisations include the same units. Where this occurs, up to 12 credit points may be shared between two majors or a major and a minor or a specialisation and a major or minor. Units cannot be shared across multiple minors.

You must complete 48 credit points of elective study. Electives can be chosen from: - Part B (as listed above) to complete a second major; - One or more minors (as listed below); - Units from across the University, which may be used to complete a major or minor from another course, provided you have met the relevant prerequisites and there are no enrolment restrictions. Notes: - Enrolment in Faculty of Business and Economics units at campuses other than your campus of enrolment is subject to there being spare capacity after students from that campus have enrolled. You should also be aware of travel and timetabling limitations. - If you are in a double degree course, some units required for the other degree are credited as electives towards this Business and Commerce degree.
