Overview

In this unit, you will continue to build upon your knowledge to further develop the competencies required for independent practice as a physiotherapist. You will reflect on your clinical experience within the Doctor of Physiotherapy so far and integrate it with tutorials and self-directed modules on pharmacology, digital health, dignity during work-integrated learning, appraising clinical guidelines and personal wellbeing.

Learning outcomes

  1. Describe and analyse the pharmacological management of common clinical cases.
  2. Appraise clinical practice guidelines used in physiotherapy practice.
  3. Analyse strategies for the successful management of personal physical and mental wellbeing.
  4. Apply professional, digital and reflective practice skills to support transition to the clinical learning environment.

Workload

On-campus: Before your PTY5206 placement, you will complete approximately 7 hours of clinical essentials development delivered as on-campus tutorials. Off-campus: During the 7 weeks when you are not on clinical placement, an average of 16 hours of online modules and private study is required weekly. It is recommended to complete the off-campus workload of this unit in the weeks you are not on clinical placement for PTY5206.
