This unit allows you the opportunity to select and conduct an independent physiotherapy research project over a 12-month period under academic supervision. Building on previous knowledge of ethical research conduct, and exposure to a range of clinical practice challenges in years one and two of the course, you will be supported to define their research question, determine research method, data collection and analysis. Dissemination of research findings will include both an oral and written report. You will will be supported by an academic research supervisor relevant to their area of study for the duration of the research project.

All assessment tasks in this unit are competency hurdles. One attempt is permitted. Failure of any hurdle assessment task may result in failure of the unit.Students must actively participate in a minimum of 80% of related scheduled activities.

Workload
On-campus: Fortnightly supervisor/student meetings (one-hour duration) are expected throughout the year, however there is the option for these meetings to be conducted face to face or via video conferencing. You are also required to participate in a one-week block of campus-based study that will include a one-day research symposium (6-8 hours) at the completion of this unit. Off-campus: This unit is predominantly completed off-campus, although the location of data collection will impact on location of work. An average of 12 hours of assisted and/or independent work per week is expected over each semester.
