This clinical placement unit will require you to complete a 5-week full time clinical placement in an acute, subacute or community setting. This unit will enable you to build upon your knowledge and experience to further develop the competencies required for independent practice as a physiotherapist. Through supervised practice, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills in assessment, treatment and client education, whilst working as part of a larger health care team. The professional, ethical and legal aspects of physiotherapy will be applied to practice, providing an opportunity to develop technical, clinical, personal and professional skills. There is a focus on developing feedback literacy skills to seeking, reflecting, and responding appropriately to feedback in the practice context.

Assessment in this unit includes hurdle assessment tasks. Failure of any hurdle assessment task may result in failure of the unit.

Learning outcomes

Workload
A five-week clinical placement, typically comprising 32 hours of clinical placement and approximately 7 hours of self-directed study per week. (Total of 190 hours in contact and associated work).
