In this unit, you will continue to build upon your knowledge to further develop the competencies required for independent practice as a physiotherapist. You will reflect on your clinical experience within the Doctor of Physiotherapy so far and integrate it with tutorials and self-directed modules on qualitative research, clinical audits, survey analysis, health service quality and safety and health service experiences for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Learning outcomes
- Describe and analyse a client's transition to a new context, referral for further physiotherapy and linkage to relevant clinical and non-clinical support services.
- Analyse the ethical principles of conducting clinical-based physiotherapy research.
- Describe the steps required for an audit and design a survey for a research question.
- Describe the purpose and main methods of qualitative research and apply them to physiotherapy practice contexts.
- Analyse the impacts of professional culture and the broader health system on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health service experiences.
Workload
On-campus: Prior to your PTY5208 placement, you will complete approximately 4 hours of clinical essentials development delivered as live activities. Off-campus: During the 7 weeks when you are not on clinical placement, an average of 16 hours of online modules and private study is required weekly. It is recommended to complete the off-campus workload of this unit in the weeks you are not on clinical placement for PTY5208.
