The Master of Applied Linguistics offers an in-depth exploration of how language operates in a global context. It covers key areas such as language acquisition and teaching, language planning and management, and digital communication and language technology. The course emphasises the practical application of linguistics to address real-world issues, including how to manage interaction in multilingual professional contexts and how to effectively communicate across cultures. You will gain skills in language analysis, policy development, and research methods, with opportunities to focus in areas such us discourse analysis, digital language mapping, and global language teaching. Practical projects and research are integrated into the curriculum, allowing students to apply their learning directly to their professional contexts. As a graduate you will be well-prepared for careers in language-related fields, including education, policy making, management, and technology, or for further academic research through our PhD pathway.
