Step outside the clinic to play a leading role in the promotion of health and management of disease with public health. Public health focuses on populations and communities rather than individuals, and spans the spectrum from promoting good health, through to preventing disease and managing illness and disability. Your studies will include aspects of biomedical sciences, health promotion, epidemiology, forensic medicine, social sciences, health data management and global health. The Bachelor of Public Health focuses on developing, implementing and evaluating programs and policies to promote health and prevent disease and injury, and undertaking public-health. It has a global orientation, examining both Australian and international health challenges.

You must complete a total of 54 credit points of specified electives made up of: 18 credit points at Level 2, which must include one of PBH2003 or PBH2007 (you may not complete both PBH2003 and PBH2007). AND 36 credit points at Level 3, including at least one of PBH3008 and PBH3014. Note 1. PBH3013 is a summer unit. Students who choose PBH3013 are advised to complete it in Summer between years 2 and 3. Enrolment in the summer semester after year 3 may mean that course completion is delayed. Delayed course completion will likely impact graduation and admission to further study. Note 2. If you are completing MON2100, you must take this unit at the end of your first year. Note 3. Successful completion of one of the Monash Study Abroad short-term programs noted below can be credited towards your specified electives at Level 3. Other Monash Study Abroad short-term programs may also be considered. Approval to participate is at the discretion of the Course Director. It is recommended that the approved program is completed before your final semester. Enrolment after your final semester may mean that course completion is delayed.
