About Student Conduct and Complaints
All campusesThe Student Conduct and Complaints (SCC) team handles reports of academic and general misconduct, appeals, review of remission of debt decisions and formal (stage 3) complaints. Additionally, we work with faculties, the Safer Community Unit and Monash Security to ensure the safety and wellbeing of Monash students, staff and visitors.

Academic integrity

This means that, whenever you work on an assignment or submit an assessment, you do so honestly, fairly, respectfully and responsibly.
Academic misconduct hearing outcomes and penalties
All campusesIf a Student Misconduct Panel finds in a hearing that you’ve engaged in academic misconduct, they’ll consider the seriousness of your offence, and/or whether you’ve been previously counselled for academic misconduct, when deciding on one or more of the penalties below.

Appealing a decision to exclude
All campusesYou can appeal against a decision to exclude you from your course if you have grounds, and you attended an Academic Progress Committee (APC) hearing and/or submitted evidence (e.g. My Academic Progress Response).
Appealing an academic misconduct decision
All campusesYou can, in some circumstances, appeal against a responsible officer’s or Student Misconduct Panel’s finding of academic misconduct and the penalty – or the penalty alone. Bear in mind that the grounds for an appeal are limited.
Attending an Academic Progress Committee (APC) hearing
All campusesIf you’re required to attend a hearing, it’s important to be prepared. The purpose of the hearing is for an Academic Progress Committee (APC) to review your academic progress and decide whether you can continue with your studies at Monash.

Panel hearing
All campusesIf you receive a Notice of Allegation (SMP Hearing), this means that a responsible officer has referred your case to a Student Misconduct Panel, and you’ll be asked to attend a hearing. Evidence supporting the allegations will be attached to the notice.

Receiving an email about unsatisfactory progress
All campusesIf you meet one of our unsatisfactory progress criteria, or your progress is at risk of being unsatisfactory, you’ll receive an email at your Monash account assigning you one of three risk levels. The email will tell you why you’ve been assigned a risk level, what it means, and what you need to do.

All campusesOnce Student Conduct and Complaints (SCC) has investigated an allegation of academic misconduct, they’ll refer the report to your faculty’s responsible officer who will decide to either:
Reported for academic misconduct
All campusesYour chief examiner or another staff member will send a report of academic misconduct to Student Conduct and Complaints (SCC) if they believe you’ve committed a serious breach of academic integrity, or if they suspect a breach when you’re already on the Academic Integrity Register for a previous warning or finding of misconduct.

Defer or reschedule your final assessment
All campusesIf you can’t complete a scheduled final assessment during the time it is set in Allocate+ due to exceptional circumstances, you can apply to defer it (or reschedule it if you’ve already deferred it).
Device and system set-up (Monash Malaysia)
MalaysiaYou’ll need a laptop to sit your eExam. Chromebooks, tablets and mobile phones can’t be used to sit eExams. For off-campus eExams you can also use a desktop computer, but to ensure the academic integrity of our exams, you won’t be able to use dual monitors when sitting a supervised online exam.

Getting help and support
All campusesIf you're doing your eExam and you experience any difficulties on the day (technical, medical or otherwise), contact exam support. They'll make sure you get the help you need. For example, they can arrange for medical support staff to speak with you.
Grade point average (GPA)
All campusesThe Grade Point Average (GPA) is an internationally recognised calculation used to find the average result of all grades achieved throughout your course.
How eExams work
All campusesAt Monash, most final assessments (eExams) and many in-semester assessments take place on Monash’s eAssessment platform. If you haven’t sat an eExam before, don’t worry – students have told us that the system is easy to use.
How to view your final assessments in Allocate+
AustraliaOnce the final assessments have been added to the timetable, you can view your assessment schedule in Allocate+, in the Student Portal and in the Monash Study app. You can check the final assessment timetable release date on the final assessment dates page.
Hurdles in assessment (competency and threshold hurdles)

Short Extension or Special Consideration Application
All campusesUse this form to apply for a short extension of two calendar days or special consideration for eligible assessment types (except for scheduled final assessments).
Special arrangements for assessments (Monash Malaysia)
MalaysiaYou should make arrangements for a suitable home environment to complete your scheduled final semester assessment off campus. But if this isn’t possible (e.g. a poor internet connection or you don’t have access to a quiet, private space), you can request to complete your assessment on campus.
Special arrangements for exams
All campusesYou’re required to sit your assessments at the time and location scheduled in Allocate+, but in some circumstances you can apply for special arrangements to adjust your assessment start time or location.
Start times and duration of final assessments
All campusesFor semester one and two final assessments, Monash University holds three assessment sessions per day (but you'll never have to sit more than two assessments in one day). Each session has two start times, shown below in Melbourne time – make sure you check your timetable in Allocate+ to confirm which start time you're allocated to:
